We had a very busy and exciting week last week, filled with lots of fun activities. We were celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge and Art’s Week.
On Monday we watched a bilingual drama about a magic casket. The characters were very funny, especially Jacko. Mr Lyon’s and Ms Twohig taught us how to do some Irish dancing in the hall. On Tuesday, a traditional Irish band came to visit and played songs for us. We performed our own songs, poems and dances in the hall too. On Wednesday we had a big trip. We walked to Raheny Dart Station and took the Dart into Connelly Station. We walked to Hugh Lane Art Gallery and did a sketching workshop there. On our way home, we took a stroll around the Garden of Remembrance. The boys from 5th and 6th class also had a céilí with the girls in the hall. On Thursday, the teachers took part in an art swap. Every class did an art lesson with a new teacher. It was so much fun!
On Thursday we got a great surprise as some Dublin football players and the Sam dropped in for a visit.

WALKING BUS A Walking Bus is a healthy, fun, safe and environmentally friendly way of travelling to school. The idea is that children walk together as a group along a set route and there is a ‘driver’ at the front of the bus and a ‘conductor’ at the rear. The Walking Bus is an ideal mode of transport for younger children who are not skilled enough to travel to school independently. The success of the Walking Bus depends on the number of volunteers available.
Boys from Third and Fourth class recently took part in a cross country race in St. Anne's Park. Well done to all the boys.

Don't forget to attend our special Child and Parent Yoga on Wednesday 15th June! Venue: The PE hall & the classroom. Additional activities for the day to be announced soon...... Time: 9am - 11am.
Don't forget..... Both groups attend together. There are scheduled activities in the classroom after the yoga so please come along and join in in the fun!!!!! We are looking forward to seeing lots of parents / grandparents / minders on the day. On Wednesday the 16th of March St Malachy's B.N.S held their second annual WOW day. (Walk on Wednesday) The Green School's Committee are encouraging all boys to walk or cycle to school every Wednesday. If you do not live in the local area, we have designated park and stride spots in the locality. By choosing not to take the car we are cutting down on CO2 emissions which damage the atmosphere. We hope you will walk or cycle everyday! Calling all parents, would you like to get fit this Spring. Join other parents at the gates of St. Malachy's on Thursday at 9:00am to walk with a friend, buggy or even the dog! A trainer from Dublin City Council will join us to set the pace and set the route. See you there.... |
